August

If April is the cruelest month
Surely August is the kindest
Benevolent air hangs cozily
Pregnant over golden hills
Winds its way around the clouds
Holding water, releasing rain
The natural flow of life itself

And yet time almost stops here….

No holidays to break the days
No schools, no labor pains
Just the diamond game of innings
That springs to life with no set end
Bright green grass and waves on water
Even senators home to be honest
In awe of the brilliant light of August
